Tropical Cyclone Alfred will be affecting South-East Queensland and Northern NSW this week.
Tropical cyclones (TCs) can produce very strong winds, storm surge, heavy rainfall, and flooding.

This includes things like food, water, clothes, and medication.
If you need to find shelter:
If you are in a risk area, decide now where you are going to take shelter.
- If you can, stay with family or friends who are in less risky locations.
Do not plan to go out during the cyclone.
Public transport will not be running on Thursday and Friday.
- There is a Cyclone refuge centre at the RNA Showgrounds if you have nowhere to go – this is a very basic place with no beds. (600 Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills Queensland 4006)

Opens 7am Wednesday and will remain open until 1pm Saturday
YAC Office
The YAC Office is closed on Monday 10th March. However, the YAC phone number will be monitored.
YAC staff will be contactable on their mobile numbers - however they may not answer if they are affected by the weather.
Public Transport, Schools, and Courts
There is limited public transport running, and some schools are closed.
A number of Magistrates courts remain affected by the weather.
If you are unsure about an upcoming court date, call your lawyer.

Staying safe
- Beware of fallen powerlines – do not touch them and call SES if you can
- Don’t approach floodwater or drains
- Don’t drive on flooded roads
- Don't go out to watch the cyclone, this can be extremely dangerous
