Youth Advocacy Centre makes formal commitment to foster reconciliation and reject racism
Brisbane-based not-for-profit, the Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC), has formally demonstrated its commitment to advancing reconciliation by launching its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
The RAP provides a clear framework for YAC to strengthen its contribution to the national reconciliation movement. It aligns closely with the organisation’s ongoing advocacy for systemic reform to address the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in Queensland’s youth justice system.
Through its RAP, YAC formally commits to ensuring its services support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, families, and communities to access legal and social justice on an equal basis with non-Indigenous young people.
The organisation is equally dedicated to creating an environment that actively rejects racism and fosters reconciliation. This commitment is reflected in YAC’s ongoing efforts to build and nurture relationships that promote awareness, acknowledgement, support, and education across its services and community partnerships.
Youth Advocacy Centre extends its heartfelt thanks to:

The launch of YAC’s RAP is a public affirmation of the organisation’s unwavering support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership in creating a more just and equitable future.
